Kinetic Typography

Print magazine's Aug 2008 cover featured a photograph of an interesting piece of 3D typography, which wasn't merely sculpted, but created through the use of the Gray-Scott model, some pretty awesome computer technology and a 3D printer (who knew that this even existed?).

The main thing that caught my eye about this cover was that it intrigues and beguiles, OK it is just some typography, but you cant help but wander how it was created. And when you read the supporting notes you realise quite how much time and effort went in to it. It really is just amazing.
