Tar magazine

I bought this magazine in borders, despite not knowing what the content was and having never seen it before, purely for the cover- i know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover- but i love it. I haven't even read half the articles, I just love looking at the layouts and the different print techniques that they have used.

The cover is embossed with the title in gloss. On the inside there are chapter dividers that are die cut and textured, spot gloss is used and about three different papers. Expensive. To the tune of £10. For a magazine.

This is the chapter divider which is die cut to reveal snippets of the contents.

The list of contents is the first sentence of the article, some of them cut off half way through.

This is one of the articles, I really like the use of negative space, and the way the title is placed in the bottom half of the page.

The page on the left is an interview which has been laid out on a double page pullout.

I particularly like how there is no continuity across typeface and layout.

Fashion shoot?

Do the sausages, spaghetti and sprinkles really sell the clothes? Or are we supposed to be inspired to wear our dinner as a hair piece?
