Eco font

"After Dutch holey cheese, there now is a Dutch font with holes as well."

"Appealing ideas are often simple: how much of a letter can be removed while maintaining readability? After extensive testing with all kinds of shapes, the best results were achieved using small circles. After lots of late hours (and coffee) this resulted in a font that uses up to 20% less ink. Free to download, free to use. There is also a print solution for business environments: Ecofont Professional. "

I saw this in an edition of National Geographic. Interesting idea for the eco-conscious, but readability is probably an issue at anything over 10pt.

Spirited Away

Having said that I'm not a big animated movie fan, Im going to add another exception. Now ive tried to watch Anime before and not really rated it. To be honest the style of the animation; the rolling backgrounds with very 2D characters, kind of annoys me....their big mouths and big eyes.... Anyway, my boyfriend persuaded me to watch this and I loved it, mainly for the enchanting story which helped get me over the animation style (and the dubbing, which also gets on my nerves).

At the risk of becoming a hypocrit, im going to add another exception. Howl's Moving Castle. Another film from Hayao Myazaki. Again I think it was the enchanting story that captured me.

Persepolis

Saw this on Film4 the other day and really enjoyed it. Im not much of an animated movie fan but this was excellent, loved the black and white past and colour hints for the future. Also loved the Iranian story which was quite an education. Would have liked to have seen the original French version, but the English dubbed version worked as well as if it had been made in English originally.
